Will laser therapy work on my leg or face veins?

A: Although there is no way to tell for sure which veins will respond, a full medical history prior to the treatment will help determine what you should expect. Prior surgery or treatment on your veins could affect the treatment outcome. In some cases, further testing may be recommended to determine if there are underlying venous problems.

How does the laser treatment compare with other methods?

A: Treatment with the Gentle Max Pro is non-invasive and quick with no painful injections. With sclerotherapy, a small needle is used to inject each vessel with a sclerosing solution. Sclerotherapy treatments could take approximately 20-30 minutes and each vessel could require multiple painful injections. Our practitioner has found that if a vein or veins have been previously treated with sclerotherapy, the vein will not respond to laser treatment.

What does the treatment feel like?

Treatments begin with the larger veins first, proceeding along the entire length of the vessel. Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cooling system in the Gentle Max Pro handpiece helps soothe the skin as the laser energy is delivered.

Are the results long-lasting?

Long-term success varies from patient to patient, vessel to vessel. Many of the vessels treated require only one or two treatments. Multiple treatments are usually required for optimum results.

How long do the treatments take?

Treatment time varies depending on the number and size of the vessels to be treated. Treatment sessions are generally scheduled for increments of 30 minutes.        While             laser hair removal           doesn't get rid of             hair forever          (only electrolysis is FDA-approved for permanent             hair removal         ), it does drastically reduce             hair          growth—to the point that you can stop shaving altogether. ... It also gets progressively less painful as treatments continue and the             hair          becomes finer.

How many treatments will I need?

In many cases, significant improvement is realized in as few as 1 to 2 treatments. In some cases new spider veins may appear and therefore additional treatments may be necessary. Treatments may occur at 8 week intervals.

Can all skin types be treated?

The Gentle Max Pro can treat the widest range of skin types because of its innovative technology, cooling handpiece and treatment flexibility. Each treatment is customized to match the appropriate treatment with the patient’s skin type.

What are the contraindications to laser vein removal?

Laser Vein Removal is not recommended for those patients who:

  • Are pregnant.
  • Use medication for which 1064 nm light exposure is contraindicated.
  • Have diabetes.
  • Have a history of clotting disorders or take anticoagulants.
  • Have a history of skin keloids as they may be prone to scarring after any skin trauma including laser treatment.
  • Have an active infection or history of herpes simplex in the area to be treated.
  • Have a history of personal or familial skin cancer.

When can I resume normal activities?

Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous activities for at least 24 hours. Avoid exercise for 2 to 3 days after the treatment. Please also avoid hot baths and hot tubs for at least the first 24 hours. Compressive stockings are no longer used following spider removal treatment with the YAG Laser.

What is the cost of a laser vein removal treatment?

Treatment for veins varies with the time spent. Patients usually have more than one kind of vein and more than one area requiring treatment. A consultation will determine the pricing for vein removal.

How do I get started with removing sunspots?

The first step is to schedule an appointment with our licensed health care provider. They will examine your sunspots and give us approval to proceed with treatment if the spots appear to be benign. Spots that appear potentially cancerous will not be treated with the laser.

How many treatments are required to remove sunspots?

One to three laser treatments are usually required to remove sunspots, freckles, age spots, birthmarks, and other types of pigmented lesions.

How long is a treatment session?

The treatment time depends on the number of sunspots to be removed. Typical treatments are 20 to 30 minutes per session.Treatments begin with the larger veins first, proceeding along the entire length of the vessel. Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cooling system in the Gentle Max Pro handpiece helps soothe the skin as the laser energy is delivered.

Will the sunspots be permanently removed?

Sunspots removed by our lasers usually are gone for good. New spots may appear in previously sun-damaged skin as the aging process continues. On-going exposure to the sun will likely create new spots, particularly in those that freckle or burn easily. Birthmarks and brown spots not caused by sun-damage may gradually return with time following laser or spot removal.

How can sunspots be prevented?

Limiting sun exposure can significantly reduce the incidence of sun spot formation. Avoid sunbathing and always wear sunscreen (SPF-30 or better) when outdoors.

How much does laser sun spot removal cost?

The price for sun spot removal starts at $150-200 per treatment with our laser. Packages are sold at a better price.

The price ranges from $699 to $999 for 6 sessions depending on location.

What is Skin Tightening with the GentleMax Pro?

Skin tightening is a procedure by which you can have firmer, smoother skin on the face, chest, arms, stomach or other areas such as scars. By using the deep penetrating, yet safe wavelengths of light from the Candela GentleMax Pro laser, your skin can begin to see improvement after just one or two treatments.

How are Treatments Performed?

Generally, we will do three to five 45 minute sessions with the laser spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Each treatment covers the entire area with multiple invisible, yet powerful laser pulses. Generally, the treatment produces a warming sensation within the skin and sometimes it feels more like a rubber band snapped gently on the skin and is very comfortable and tolerable.

When Will I See Results?

Results with the GentleMax Pro are more predictable than with radio-frequency treatments such as Thermage. Optimal results are usually seen about 90 days to 6 months after the fourth treatment, but may be seen in as little as 1-2 weeks after the second treatment. The laser produces tightening of the skin, reduced wrinkles, improvement in elasticity, improvement in skin texture, pore size and skin smoothness. While skin tightening with the GentleMax Pro is not a substitute for a face lift, it is an alternative to one.

Patients who are not ready for face lift surgery or do not desire it may find this just what they are looking for. If you plan on having a face lift, GentleMax Pro treatments can be used in conjunction to improve the quality of the skin, something face lift surgery cannot do.

Am I a Good Candidate for GentleMax Pro Skin Tightening?

The GentleMax Pro may be used as a stand-alone procedure or combined with our other advanced skin rejuvenation procedures such as fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic. The GentleMax Pro can treat all skin types.

There is no specific age limit for skin tightening in adults. If you feel you have excess, loose or sagging skin, you will likely benefit from this procedure.

Also effective for acne scars, surgical scars and loose skin on the stomach, legs or arms, this procedure can be easily customized to address your problem areas.

Is There Any Downtime From GentleMax Pro Skin Tightening?

Generally, except for some mild temporary swelling of the skin in the first 1-2 days after the procedure, there is no downtime.

How many treatments does it require?

Number of treatments is generally one to three depending on severity of the infection. You can come in to the office for an evaluation to determine the best number of treatments.

What Has Been the Feedback From Patients You Have Treated?

Patients like how their skin feels smoother after treatment with the GentleMax Pro. They report decreased pore size, decreased lines around the eyes, even lines in the treated areas and improved skin texture.

Patients who have responded poorly to radio-frequency treatments have seen substantial benefit with the GentleMax Pro. Patients love it, our staff loves it. The key advantage to this procedure is no downtime, and one can have the treatment done in an hour and be back to work or play.
